About USPCAS-W, MUET, Jamshoro

U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), has been established at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro, with the financial support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Pakistan under the Cooperative Agreement signed with USAID on Dec.12, 2014 for five years. The Center is dedicatedly training and building up the capacity of a new generation of engineers and water professionals in order to solve the water security challenges of the twenty-first century. The United States Government through United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Government of Pakistan through the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have partnered together to create state of art centers for advanced studies. The U.S.-PAK Centers for Advanced Studies (USPCAS) have been designed by the United States Government and Government of Pakistan to support Pakistan’s economic development by strengthening universities and encouraging applied research. USPCAS have been designed to leverage economic development in Pakistan through applied research in energy, water, and agriculture and food security. U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) has been established at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro under the Cooperative Agreement signed with USAID on Dec. 12, 2014 for five years. USPCAS-W is a state of the art and modern applied research center, it is a world class education and applied research center dedicated to resolving Pakistan’s water crises through applied research, developing specialist human resource and technologies; academia-industry collaboration; and policy formulation. The center will generate cost-effective and sustainable solutions to Pakistan’s challenges related to water and educating the next generation of scientists, engineers, and policy makers through innovative academic programs in water that are focused on applied research to solve Pakistan’s contemporary problems. USPCAS-W is encouraging and empowering women scientists and researchers to actively participate in applied research to solve Pakistan’s contemporary problems. The USPCAS-W will receive assistance in technical issues and capacity building from U.S. Partner University (University of Utah).

MUET has established a modern and applied policy research center, the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W). The Center admits graduate students in four thematic areas: Hydraulics, Irrigation, and Drainage (HID), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Environmental Engineering (Env. Eng), and Water, Sanitation, and Health Sciences (WaSH), and BS in Environmental Science (ES).
