The Role of a Director of Engineering The Director of Rooms forms part of the Hotel Leadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Hotel or Resort. The Director of Engineering is directly responsible for all aspects of the division, including coordinating and managing the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the Resort as it relates to engineering and grounds; leading, managing, and developing the engineering team; preparing and monitoring the annual budget; and overseeing labor control and operating expenses. Key Duties and Responsibilities To coordinate and manage the day to day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel as it pertains to engineering and grounds, under the direction of the Engineering Management. To continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and associates. Manage repair and maintenance project and building improvements by effectively coordinating and planning all tasks in advance of beginning any project. Utilize all possible resources. Coordinate efforts with engineering and other affected departments. Use project management techniques along with the appropriately assigned engineering team members to perform project planning and execution. All methods, materials and practices must meet and be in accordance with local codes, company specifications, national codes and standard practices. Keep accurate completion and task records in the project files. Materials procurement and coordination of their availability are also critical to the success of your position. Our goal is to cost-effectively maximize the schedule. Oversees the management of operating equipment of the physical plant, guest rooms and public areas for The Ocean Club. Develops, maintains, and implements effective maintenance systems within the property. Maintains accurate record keeping of the operations of the department on a regular basis including inventory control records, and ordering of materials and equipment. Plans, develops, controls and implements an effective work-order system that generates speedy repairs, replacements, and special projects. Inspects and follows-up on projects, repairs, or replacements carried out by the department. To inform the General Manager/ Resort Manager/ Senior Director of Engineering immediately of any breakdown of services that could be a hazard or and inconvenience to guest. Assists in the assessment and selection of personnel for the department. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Ocean Club Engineering Department. Responsible for the supervision of repairs and preventative maintenance programs within the Ocean Club Engineering Department. Liaisons with department head for the repairs and maintenance in their area and follow up. Ensures all jobs are completed in accordance with the correct specification to standard required by the hotel.
