Eligibility / Qualification Required:
Batterjee Medical College is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Biomedical Technician to support the maintenance, calibration, repair, and safe operation of medical, laboratory, and simulation equipment across the campus. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting academic, research, and clinical activities.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Technical Support
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on biomedical and laboratory equipment.
- Diagnose faults and conduct repairs on medical, laboratory, and simulation devices.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
- Ensure all equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications.
Installation & Commissioning
- Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Conduct functionality and safety checks before equipment handover.
- Ensure proper configuration and operational readiness.
Calibration & Quality Assurance
- Perform basic calibration and functional testing where applicable.
- Support quality assurance activities and equipment validation processes.
- Coordinate external calibration services when required.
Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain equipment inventory records, service histories, and asset tracking systems.
- Monitor spare parts availability and manage technical tools and testing instruments.
- Ensure proper identification and tagging of biomedical equipment.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing records.
- Support audits and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Follow institutional policies, manufacturer guidelines, and safety standards.
User Training & Academic Support
- Provide basic operational guidance and technical support to faculty, staff, and laboratory users.
- Support laboratory sessions, practical classes, and examinations by ensuring equipment readiness.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize disruption to academic activities.
Vendor Coordination
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and external service providers.
- Supervise vendor maintenance activities and verify service quality.
Requirements
- Diploma degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of biomedical equipment, medical devices, and laboratory systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance and calibration practices.
- Excellent documentation and reporting abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Basic communication skills in Arabic and English.
