Eligibility / Qualification Required:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in project bidding, feasibility studies, cost analysis, basic design, detailed design, and engineering management for municipal sewage treatment plants and industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
- Oversee structural and geotechnical engineering parameters, manage tender processes and bid evaluations, and conduct detailed design reviews to ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules.
- Prepare and review structural technical proposals, civil drawings, bills of quantities (BOQs), and related reports for bid submissions.
- Develop geological investigation programs, review geological investigation reports, and provide formal comments and recommendations.
- Evaluate bidding design proposals, exercise control over design costs, optimise designs for deep excavation pits and large water retaining structures, and regulate steel reinforcement quantities.
- Manage design teams and external consultants, provide technical guidance, and review construction plans and engineering drawings.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary design activities and optimise design solutions throughout all project phases.
- Address on-site technical issues and provide structural engineering support during construction.
- Act as the primary point of contact for design consultants, clients, government authorities, suppliers, and contractors.
- Conduct on-site surveys for proposed bidding projects and prepare comprehensive survey reports.
- Assume responsibility for guiding and cultivating young engineering professionals
- Responsible for the development and preparation of specialised, standardised documentation and calculation sheets across bidding, basic design, and detailed design phases, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of structural and civil engineering design and project management experience in the MENA region, with specialized expertise in sewage treatment, chemical, or petrochemical sectors.
- Proficient in American and Saudi (KSA) structural, foundation, and geotechnical design codes, with a solid understanding of local government approval processes related to structural works.
- Familiar with sewage treatment process flows, and capable of coordinating multiple disciplines, including process, electrical, instrumentation and control, HVAC, fire protection, and overall layout.
- Demonstrated experience in independently completing bidding, basic design, and detailed design for industrial projects, including:
o Proficiency in complex water tank structure and mass concrete design (addressing thermal stress, shrinkage and creep, buoyancy calculations, etc.).
o Proficiency in anti-seepage and corrosion-resistant design for underground water tank structures in sewage environments, with the ability to select appropriate anti-seepage and anti-corrosion solutions.
o Proficiency in support system design for deep or large-scale excavation pits and slope stabilization.
o Proficiency in developing soil treatment strategies based on geological survey reports (covering various methods such as dynamic compaction, cast-in-place piles, precast piles, CFG piles, and cement-soil mixing piles), and, in soft soil conditions, effectively addressing the impact of post-construction settlement on inlet and outlet pipeline interfaces.
o Skilled in pipeline route & planning selection considering topography, geological conditions, land use constraints, and alignment with existing infrastructure; proficient in developing pipeline profiles and longitudinal sections.
o Experienced in design of trench excavation, bedding, backfill, and soil treatment for buried pipelines, including special considerations for soft soil, rock, and variable ground conditions.
- Proficient in the design and coordination of pipeline crossings, including open-cut crossings of roads and railways. Trenchless technologies such as pipe jacking, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), and microtunneling. River/canal crossings with consideration of scour protection, subaqueous trenching, and buoyancy control.
- Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork abilities, with the capability to perform effectively in multicultural and high-pressure environments.
- Passionate about the water treatment industry and committed to professional excellence.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, along with MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in using structural analysis software, such as Staad Pro., SAP200, Etabs, etc.
- Demonstrated awareness of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and their relevance to the field.
