Role Overview:
The department of Clinical and Radiation Oncology at SKMCH&RC, Peshawar offers a two-year post-FCPS fellowship in clinical and radiation oncology. This training opportunity will enable the fellow acquire experience and training in modern/advanced radiotherapy skills, while with consolidating his/her knowledge in systemic therapy. This will also be an opportunity to carry out high quality research work under the supervision of the consultants. Furthermore, this will also enable the fellow to achieve skills required to pass FRCR (Clinical Oncology) exam from the Royal College of Radiologist (UK). This is a hospital fellowship programme. The fellow will rotate through attachments covering different tumor sites working with a team of consultants, medical officers, physicists, chemo bay staff and technologists in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the SKMCH&RC, Peshawar. The fellow will also spend some time rotating through medical oncology and palliative care. The fellow will participate in outpatient clinics, radiotherapy planning sessions, MDT meetings, emergency assessment unit and inpatient consults, chemo bay and will be required to be on call, by rotation. In addition to this, he/she will also be expected to participate in high quality research, and will be required to publish at least one paper in a peer-reviewed, indexed journal, within the first year of this two-year fellowship. The fellow will be assessed through regular workplace-based assessments as part of his/her training portfolio and will undergo a formal appraisal at least once/ year.
Eligibility / Qualification Required:
- MBBS
- Full FCPS in Radiation Oncology
- Full registration with PMDC/PMC
- Previous research experience (desirable)
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and patients
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Good computer skills.
