The position reports to the Director of Engineering. Work authorization for the location is required. About the role Supports the Director in managing a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialists responsible for all engineering operations to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees. What you will do 1. Assist in the hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, disciplining and planning of activities of maintenance department personnel. 2. Participate in the employee performance reviews process. 3. Assist in ensuring that effective preventive maintenance schedules are followed. 4. Assist in planning and implementing procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient maintenance department. 5. Directly supervise personnel in carrying out work schedules as well as spot checking to verify quality and employee performance. 6. Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools. 7. Maintain par stocks and the distribution of items. 8. Ensure timely and accurate sub meter, chemical treatment and engine room logs. 9. Handle the purchasing of equipment replacement parts and repairs. This includes contacting vendors for best prices, writing purchase orders, receiving goods and completing projects. 10. The ability to ensure that work order/request system is properly executed and that items from the log book are followed up on when necessary. 11. Assist in developing and updating comprehensive departmental policies and manuals. 12. Ensure that all meter readings on heat, light and power are taken on a daily basis and reviewed for consumption. 13. Assist in compiling a monthly consumption report on heat, light and power to include electricity, gas, steam and water. 14. Set-up fire line safety system, valve locations and other emergency procedures that involves the department. 16. Prepare and follow through on any projects as outlined by senior management. 17. Ensure all areas of the hotel are patrolled and inspected on a regular basis. 18. Ensure all maintenance personnel are in uniform and well groomed. 19. Ensure timely completion of all assigned responsibilities. 20. Assist in developing and maintaining an energy conservation program allowing the hotel to meet its annual budget targets. 21. Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise efficiently with the Director of Engineering on such matters.
