About the role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer / Solution Architect to lead solution engineering and enterprise architecture for UKG’s largest and most strategic customer engagements.
This role serves as the technical authority and strategic advisor throughout the customer onboarding and implementation lifecycle — combining deep expertise in UKG platforms, enterprise integrations, observability, and operational engineering to deliver scalable, production-grade solutions for complex global enterprises.
The ideal candidate brings a rare combination of architectural depth, hands-on engineering capability, customer-facing leadership, and operational excellence. You will work directly with enterprise customers, implementation partners, services, support, cloud operations, and product engineering to design resilient architectures, accelerate adoption, and influence the future evolution of the UKG platform.
This is not a passive advisory role. You will actively shape technical strategy, guide implementation execution, solve high-complexity production challenges, and drive measurable customer outcomes at scale.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Solution Architecture
- Serve as the primary technical advisor and trusted architect for enterprise customers throughout onboarding, implementation, and post-go-live optimization
- Design end-to-end enterprise architectures across UKG HCM, Payroll, Workforce Management, and adjacent ecosystems
- Translate complex business and operational requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions
- Lead architecture reviews, technical governance, and production readiness assessments for strategic customer programs
Integration & Platform Engineering
- Architect enterprise-grade integrations using APIs, event-driven architectures, middleware, ETL/data pipelines, and integration platforms
- Guide customers through enterprise data flow design, including upstream/downstream system integrations and enterprise data warehouse strategies
- Define reusable integration patterns, reference architectures, and implementation accelerators across customer engagements
- Drive extensibility best practices across workflows, reporting, configuration, automation, and platform customization
Site Reliability Engineering & Observability
- Lead operational architecture and reliability engineering efforts for large-scale enterprise deployments
- Design observability frameworks leveraging tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and enterprise monitoring platforms to improve diagnostics, visibility, and operational resilience
- Develop monitoring standards, dashboards, alerting strategies, and root cause analysis processes for production environments
- Partner with Cloud Operations and Engineering teams to proactively identify and resolve scalability, reliability, and performance bottlenecks
Performance & Production Readiness
- Lead performance engineering initiatives including load testing, throughput analysis, scalability modeling, and production validation
- Validate infrastructure readiness and operational resiliency for enterprise go-lives and peak-scale events
- Design rollout, migration, and legacy system cutover strategies including phased deployments, hybrid synchronization, and parallel processing models
- Ensure business continuity and operational stability throughout customer transitions AI-Enabled Customer Delivery
- Leverage AI technologies and automation capabilities to improve implementation efficiency, operational diagnostics, customer engagement, and knowledge management
- Apply AI-assisted workflows to accelerate troubleshooting, documentation generation, operational analysis, and customer support interactions
- Identify opportunities to embed intelligent operational practices into enterprise delivery and platform adoption models
Strategic Leadership & Customer Engagement
- Represent UKG as a senior technical leader in executive-level customer engagements and strategic partner discussions
- Drive alignment across engineering, product, services, support, and customer stakeholders
- Synthesize customer feedback, operational learnings, and production insights into actionable recommendations for internal engineering and product teams
- Mentor engineers and solution architects while helping establish technical standards and architectural best practices across the organization Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, platform engineering, enterprise SaaS, or senior technical consulting roles
- Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise software implementations and complex customer onboarding programs
- Deep expertise with UKG products, platforms, and enterprise integration capabilities
- Strong hands-on experience with observability and SRE tooling including Splunk, Grafana, monitoring frameworks, and operational diagnostics
- Expertise designing and supporting high-volume, highly available enterprise systems at scale
- Experience with APIs, event-driven systems, integration platforms, and enterprise data architectures
- Demonstrated success driving production readiness, performance engineering, scalability planning, and operational resiliency initiatives
- Experience leading enterprise deployment and migration strategies including phased rollouts and legacy system cutovers
- Strong understanding of authentication, identity management, and security patterns in multi-tenant enterprise environments
- Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders
- Ability to operate effectively across customers, engineering, product, support, and services organizations Preferred Qualifications
- Deep domain expertise in HCM, Payroll, Workforce Management, or enterprise workforce technology ecosystems
- Experience applying AI tools and automation to enterprise operations, customer delivery, or engineering workflows
- Background in cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and enterprise SaaS operations
- Experience building reusable architectural frameworks, reference implementations, and enterprise technical standards
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities in large-scale production environments

The pay range for this position is $129,500 to $186,100. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and work location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
