Key Responsibilities:
To lead NUST’s technology transfer and commercialization agenda by transforming institutional research outcomes into market-ready technologies, fostering industry partnerships, and enabling a culture of innovation-driven economic impact.
Strategic Leadership & Policy Development
1. Develop and execute comprehensive technology transfer and commercialization strategies aligned with NUST’s innovation, commercialization and entrepreneurship goals.
2. Formulate, implement, and periodically update institutional policies and frameworks related to IP licensing, faculty consultancy & industrial R&D projects, spinoff formation, and innovation awards.
3. Define and implement performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of TTO operations.
4. Drive the translation of research outputs into commercially viable technologies through licensing, partnerships, and joint ventures.
Partnerships & External Engagement
5. Establish and nurture strategic relationships with industry, government, investors, and funding bodies to advance technology commercialization and collaborative research.
6. Promote NUST’s research and innovation strengths to external stakeholders for enhanced visibility, funding, and collaboration opportunities.
7. Represent NUST at national and international innovation, IP, and technology transfer forums, and maintain engagement with global technology transfer networks and associations.
Commercialization & Entrepreneurship Support
8. Lead efforts to support the creation, incubation, and scaling of university-based spinoffs and startups, in coordination with relevant university offices.
9. Develop external linkages and partnerships for collaboration on commercialization of IPRs through different available channels
10. Facilitate industry access to university laboratories, IP portfolios, and technical expertise for R&D and testing purposes.
11. Promote and manage faculty consultancy services, R&D projects, ensuring compliance, transparency, and streamlined contracting with external clients.
Capacity Building & Institutional Development
11. Organize training programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance technology transfer literacy and commercialization readiness amongst faculty, researchers, and students.
12. Collaborate with local and international funding and development agencies to support research commercialization and innovation infrastructure projects.
13. Foster an institutional culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement within NUST’s innovation ecosystem.
Leadership & Team Management
14. Lead, mentor, and manage the TTO team to ensure high performance, professional growth, and a collaborative, impact-driven work environment.

Eligibility / Qualification Required:
Qualification:Essential Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering, Business, Technology Management, or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications
MBA Marketing/ Finance/ Technology Management along with Bachelor (4 years) in any Engineering Discipline from HEC recognized university.
Experience:
Essential Experience
Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in all pertinent industry/ leadership roles in university TTOs, R&D management, or industrial liaison offices.
Deep understanding of IP rights, licensing, patenting, commercialization processes, formation of spinout/ startup companies, and university-industry collaboration models.
Desirable Experience
15 years of industrial / university Technology Transfer Office (TTO), Research Commercialization Office, or university innovation setup experience in patenting, licensing, and/or formation of spin-out/start-up companies should be essential. Hands-on experience with:
- Licensing deals
- Contract Management
- Start-up facilitation
- Research-industry liaison
- Exposure to national and international innovation ecosystems.
General Conditions:
Candidates are required to attach scanned copies of their documents (Academics / Professional). Last education certificate/degree must be attested/verified by HEC.
Candidates may be considered ineligible for the post due to any of the following reasons:
- 3rd Div in academic career / weak academic profile.
- NUST employees with less than one year of service with NUST and / or absence of NOC from Head of Institution.
- In process of pursuing a required degree.
- Medically unfit.
- Only selected candidates will be contacted and issued offer letter.
- Candidates serving in Govt departments, Armed forces may apply through their respective parent department / organizations.
