Job Description:
- Regular Duties/Responsibilities
- 1. Supervise daily laboratory operations and staff activities
- 2. Perform and oversee routine, specialized laboratory and blood bank tests along with outsource tests
- 3. Ensure daily quality control, do check with line manager as per compliance with SOPs
- 4. Verify and release laboratory reports as per defined TAT.
- 5. Train students, trainees, and orient newly hired staff.
- 6. Provide technical guidance, leadership and troubleshooting support to staff.
- 7. Monitor staff attendance, discipline, and duty assignments
- 8. Manage workload distribution within the laboratory
- 9. Monitor laboratory inventory, reagents, and consumables, ensure proper sample collection, handling, and storage.
- 10. Maintain good coordination and relationship with clinical and all support departments
- 11. Report equipment faults and follow up for timely resolution and coordinate with biomedical engineers/vendors for equipment repair and maintenance
- 12. Manage duty changes and staff schedules in the HMIS system
- 13. Ensure confidentiality and proper documentation of laboratory records
- Periodic Duties/Responsibilities (Weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannually and annual)
- 1. Prepare monthly duty rosters and staff schedules
- 2. Submit weekly and monthly laboratory statistics and performance reports with line manager
- 3. Prepare monthly laboratory indents, monitor reagent consumption, stock expiry status and conduct weekly inventory and stock verification
- 4. Ensure preventive maintenance of analyzers and equipment
- 5. Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs
- 6. Conduct periodic staff competency assessments and training sessions
- 7. Review and update laboratory SOPs when required
- 8. Assist in audits, inspections, and accreditation activities
- 9. Prepare incident/error reports and corrective action plans and share with line manager
- 10. Monitor departmental KPIs and quality indicators
- 11. Participate in departmental meetings and operational planning and share meeting minutes with HO team.
- 12. Ensure record of calibration, control, reagent opening, consuming, instrument downtime, and trainings, meetings and PPM documentation are properly maintained.
