Job Summary:
- The Lead – Governance & Responsible AI is responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's enterprise-wide AI governance framework. The role ensures that all AI initiatives are developed, deployed, and operated in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices. The position leads the development and maintenance of AI governance policies, standards, and procedures while driving Responsible AI practices, monitoring compliance, managing governance exceptions, and reporting the organization's AI governance posture to executive management and governance committees.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end governance of AI across the enterprise throughout the AI lifecycle, from ideation and development to deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain AI governance policies, standards, procedures, frameworks, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure AI initiatives comply with applicable regulatory requirements, including State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regulations, internal governance policies, and relevant industry standards.
- Establish governance controls to ensure AI use cases and solutions are designed, developed, validated, deployed, and monitored in accordance with organizational AI governance requirements.
- Monitor compliance with AI governance requirements and conduct periodic governance reviews and assessments.
- Maintain oversight of AI governance exceptions, waivers, and remediation activities, ensuring appropriate approvals and timely resolution.
- Coordinate with Business Owners, AI development teams, Information Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure governance requirements are incorporated throughout AI initiatives.
- Provide governance guidance during AI project initiation, design reviews, risk assessments, and implementation.
- Track regulatory developments, emerging AI risks, and evolving industry standards, recommending updates to governance frameworks where required.
- Prepare governance dashboards, compliance reports, and executive summaries for the AI Council, relevant Steering Committees, and Board Committees, highlighting compliance status, key risks, governance exceptions, and remediation progress.
- Promote Responsible AI principles, including fairness, transparency, explainability, accountability, privacy, human oversight, and security across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement of the organization's AI governance framework and Responsible AI maturity.

- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Eligibility / Qualification Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Information Security, Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional certifications in AI Governance, Risk, Compliance, Information Security, or Project Management are an advantage.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in AI Governance, Responsible AI, Technology Governance, Risk Management, Information Security, or related fields, with demonstrated experience in AI governance initiatives.
- Experience developing enterprise governance frameworks, policies, standards, and compliance programs.
- Proven experience coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders and senior management on governance and compliance matters.
- Experience within the banking or financial services sector is preferred.
