Description:

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, is looking for talented and energetic candidates for the following contractual position in Research Department, based in Karachi.

Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:
• Perform research on various economic issues based on theoretical and applied econometrics for forecasting and policy analysis.
• Present comprehensive empirical research on various relevant economic issues of Pakistan.
• Provide concise update of current advances (theoretical/empirical and technical) in DSGE modeling.
• Contribute to the working paper series of SBP by writing papers independently or in collaboration and contribute towards managing its publication.
• Carry out data management activity by gathering/collecting information on relevant matters on an ongoing basis. Maintain a record of all such data to keep the relevant data files up to date for reference.
• Estimate various parameters for Pakistan economy using various data-sets and estimation techniques in E-views, MATLAB, STATA, Python, R language etc. and produce notes on the estimations.
• Develop a complete command on the use of DYNARE/IRIS for solving DSGE models by writing and practicing codes.
• Provide technical support to other members of the department in various tasks by way of discussion and engaging in sharing the work.
• Perform other miscellaneous assignments as specified by Director/ Divisional Head.
• Provide periodic feedback on working papers/research papers of peers.

Qualification:

Education:
• PhD degree in Economics/ Econometrics, or a related field from an HEC recognized university or a reputable foreign university.

Age:
• Maximum 40 years, as on the last date of application submission.

Experience:
• At least 3 year research experience after PhD.

Other Attributes:
• Good understanding of DSGE models with ability to solve, write, code, interpret and explain various DSGE models.
• Good competency in MATLAB, Dynare, STATA, E-Views, Python and R Language.
• Fairly good knowledge of Central Bank functions, monetary policy and general economy.
