Description:

The Nurse Aid is responsible for assisting Staff Nurses and CCTs, ensuring patients are handled tactfully and with courtesy. Must show helpful attitude towards attendants and families at all times.
• Ensure beds are prepared, linens are changed for new patients.
• Provide patients’ personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos and shaves; assist with travel to the bathroom; assist with showers and baths.
• Assist in serving meals and feeding patients as necessary (ambulating, turning and ensuring patients are in the appropriate position).
• Provide adjunct care by applying non sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatment, and therapeutic baths, applying restraints.
• Check danger box and close it by labeling when it is filled 1/3.
• Maintain patient stability by vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording intake and output information.
• Provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients answering patients’ calls and requests; reporting observations of the patient to Team leader/ Ward incharge/ nursing Coordinator.
• Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations and maintaining licensure.
• Enhance nursing department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Ensure that nursing practices are in line with institutional policies.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Head of Department.

Qualification:

• Matric with Diploma in Nurse Aid

Experience:
• Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience
