The individuals who fulfill the below basic-eligibility criteria may apply for the following position:

Shariah Compliance Officer (SCO) (OG-II)
β’
Reporting to Head Shariah Compliance
Outline of Main Duties / Responsibilities
β’ To ensure compliance of Islamic Banking operations with fatawa / guidelines issued by the Shariah Board and regulations / guidelines issued by SBP
β’ To conduct Shariah Compliance Review of Islamic Banking departments / functions, including Treasury, Financing Portfolio and Pool Management as per Shariah Board-approved plan
β’ To ensure all marketing collaterals and material are Shariah Compliant
β’ To coordinate with SBP Inspection Teams, Shariah Audit Team (external and internal) to ensure effective Shariah Compliance as per Shariah Governance Framework
β’ To review Credit Approval Memos for final sign-off by Head Shariah Compliance Department
β’ To prepare response on queries raised by the Management over Shariah- related issues assigned by Head Shariah Compliance
β’ To respond to the queries raised from Islamic Banking Branches from all over Pakistan, including Shariah-related issues, premature TDR calculation
β’ To follow up and review SCR Reports Rectification status submitted by Islamic Banking Branches and other departments
β’ To develop Shariah Compliance Framework for all areas of Islamic banking operations and devise a proper Shariah Compliance Review Manual and checklists covering all aspects of Shariah compliance review mechanism comprehensively
β’ To facilitate and ensure that all the organs of Shariah Governance are operative and are effectively undertaking their respective functions as defined in the Shariah Governance Framework
β’ To monitor and ensure compliance of operations with rules and principles of Shariah, SBP instructions and Shariah Board fatawa / guidelines on an ongoing basis
β’ To conduct Shariah Internal Control Review of all Business Units, Branches, and other Islamic BankingβHead Office based departments and prepare periodic report based on the Shariah Compliance Review on overall Shariah compliance environment
β’ To update and prepare compliance status of the Shariah Compliance Review reports until resolution
β’ To assist Islamic Banking Group in executing the enforcement actions prescribed by the Shariah Board
β’ To review policies, process flows and monthly profit & loss calculations and mark comments for supervisors' review
β’ To review pool management functions pre-distribution of profit & loss calculations to customers
β’ To review IT systems related to financing products and liability products-UAT
β’ To conduct and attend meetings with various internal and external parties over Shariah Compliance, product structuring and system analysis
β’ To perform any other assignment as assigned by the supervisor(s)
Assessment Interview(s)
β’ Only shortlisted candidates strictly meeting the above-mentioned basic eligibility criteria will be invited for panel interview(s)
Employment Type
β’ The employment will be on contractual basis for three years which may be renewed on discretion of the Management. Selected candidates will be offered compensation package and other benefits as per NBP Bank's Policy / rules.

Qualification:
β’ Minimum Graduation or equivalent from a local or international university / college / institute recognized by the HEC
β’ Candidates having Master's degree in Islamic Banking / Finance or ACCA / CA Part Qualified or having related Certification / Diploma or Specialization in Islamic Finance or Jurisprudence (Fiqh Ul Muamlat) from recognized university / institutes will be preferred
Experience
β’ Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in Banking and / or Dar-ul-ifta and / or Shariah Advisory Firm
Other Skills / Expertise / Knowledge Required
β’ Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
β’ Command in Microsoft Excel and Content writing
β’ Understanding of Shariah Law as applied to Commerce and Banking and regulation issued by SBP from time to time
