Position Summary
----------------------
Working closely with the Chair, School of Creative Arts and Animation, the Manager, Academic Programs provide academic leadership and management to all programs in the School of Creative Arts and Animation. The Manager, Academic Programs is responsible, with supervision and assistance from the Chairs, for daily operating matters and academic operational planning/management within the schools ensuring that the semester-to-semester goals of the Schools are met.

Responsibilities
----------------
Faculty and Student Support
------------------------
• As necessary, conducting an academic orientation for all new faculty members at the beginning of each semester, which may include workshops on classroom management, Seneca policies and procedures and an introduction to the School’s critical dates and processes.
• Responsible for providing support to adjunct faculty in delivering curriculum and carrying out projects in the classrooms and labs by determining needs, hiring, supervising, and mentoring adjunct faculty.
• Provides ongoing support and feedback, regular evaluation sessions and determines the professional development needs of those being supervised, under the supervision of the Chair.
• Counselling students who have academic issues in an effort to informally solve the problem and avoid a formal student appeal.
• Facilitation of student accommodation, advisement needs and transfer requests with appropriate areas of the college (Counselling and Accessibility, Student Advising, Credit Transfer Office, etc.)
Strategic Planning and Program Development
• Attending Faculty and Admin. team meetings to support in the discussions about the direction of the Schools and the Faculty.
• In collaboration with the Chairs, monitor and report on faculty allocation, resource allocation and academic performance of the Schools and the Faculty.
• In collaboration with the Chair and faculty,
o Develop new strategic industry partnerships and projects.
o Develop new program proposals and curricula for program launch and redevelopment.
o Working closely with Seneca International on existing and proposed joint ventures/partnerships etc.

Operations
----------------
• Prepare and administer the processes for hiring new full-time and contract faculty, under the supervision of the chair.
• Coordinates and Facilitates all PT faculty assignments.
• Provides day-to-day supervision of faculty for curriculum delivery and departmental projects.
• Works with the Coordinators and Faculty to ensure Program Advisory Committees are in place and active for all programs or program clusters.
• Attends Program Advisory Committee meetings, as required.

Marketing and Outreach
---------------------------
• Supports the development of online and traditional marketing materials, and maintains regular contact with high schools, other colleges, advisory groups and industry partners.
• Coordinates the distribution and usage of existing school content via numerous internal and external channels.

Qualification:

Education
---------------
• A minimum of a 4-year degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration or a related field.
• Master’s Degree Preferred.

Experience
-----------------------
• Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in a leadership or management position.
• Minimum of three (3) years of post-secondary teaching experience, preferably in a related discipline, is required.


Skills
------------
• Well-developed public relations and relationship-building skills and a demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire staff and faculty.
• Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office and related software. Experience using enterprise software applications such as PeopleSoft, and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
• Proven ability to manage projects and deliver professional presentations.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution and judgment skills.
• Demonstrated organization, managerial and project management skills with an emphasis on interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the College’s multi-cultural/racial/able students, staff and public.
• A valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle are required for travel between campuses and to meetings.
