About the Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs team
The Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs team is a group of dedicated professionals committed to helping Affirm scale, innovate, and provide outstanding products for consumers, merchants, and key partners. We combine legal, compliance, and policy expertise to guide growth, shape products, and build trust across our ecosystem. Our work spans multiple professional disciplines and provides the foundation for Affirm’s mission to deliver honest financial products.
Affirm’s Compliance team designs and implements a compliance program that enables Affirm to proactively adhere to regulatory requirements while also identifying and addressing potential regulatory issues that may arise. Compliance program activities include advisory, guidance & training, independent testing & monitoring, reporting, escalation, and oversight. As the second line of defense, compliance proactively partners with the business to support new products, markets, and initiatives, change management, issue identification, and remediation plans, assessment and monitoring of third parties, and provides trends and data to enable informed decision making, strengthen controls or provide for better treatment of consumers.
Affirm is seeking a Compliance Lead who will support the company’s Fair Lending Program. This position plays a fundamental role by delivering key results and providing subject matter expertise on regulatory requirements. In this capacity, the Compliance Lead will collaborate with Legal, Product, Credit, Applied Machine Learning, Engineering and senior leadership to identify and assess fair lending risk within applicable requirements, and provide guidance to mitigate risk. Remotely, the role will report to the Director of Fair Lending and will work cross-functionally with other teams.
What You’ll Do
  • Support second-line oversight of Fair Lending risk across the full credit lifecycle
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Credit, Machine Learning, Engineering, and Legal to embed Fair Lending considerations into product design, model development, and go-to-market decisions
  • Own and evolve key components of Affirm’s Fair Lending Program, including governance, risk assessments, monitoring, and testing frameworks
  • Provide clear, actionable guidance on complex regulatory expectations (e.g., ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP) and translate them into practical solutions across the product lifecycle
  • Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment on compliance risk
What We Look For
  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or regulatory roles within financial services, with specific experience supporting Fair and Responsible Lending programs and regulations (e.g., ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP)
  • Strong understanding of Fair Lending Compliance Management Systems, including risk assessments, testing, governance, and issue management across complex products and models
  • Experience partnering with technical and business teams (e.g., credit risk, machine learning, product) to evaluate and mitigate risk in models and decision systems
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, apply regulatory judgment, and make informed decisions in a fast-evolving fintech and regulatory landscape
  • Clear, concise communicator who can distill complex topics and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and external partners
  • Highly organized and proactive, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
