PwC Luxembourg is hiring a Senior Associate - Valuation & Modelling (m/f/d). A career in our Valuation and Modeling practice, within our Deals Corporate Finance Services team, will provide you the opportunity to support clients in understanding and quantifying the value of businesses and the implications of investment choices on value throughout the lifecycle of a business. We provide comprehensive valuations for portfolios, businesses, intangibles, shares, and financial instruments. Our services support regulatory requirements, facilitate decision-making, assist in transactions, and ensure compliance with legislation. By blending technical expertise and strategic insights, we advise leading alternative investment managers, institutional investors, large corporations, family offices, not-for-profit organizations, and private clients, consistently delivering exceptional results. Our in-house experience enables us to assertively interact with the several stakeholders involved in the valuation process, including investment teams, internal risk and valuation specialist, external auditors, and other valuation professionals, as to adequately consider the elements of value creation and risk within our assessments. Be a part of our team where you will:
- Carry out various assignments for valuation and modelling advisory across different industries and situations, including portfolio valuations, business valuations, intangible valuations, complex securities valuation, and ad hoc modelling engagements;
- Prepare detailed financial modelling, business plans, financial analysis and the application of a variety of valuation methodologies;
- Assess reasonableness of valuations and financial models prepared by others;
- Assist clients with their understanding of complex financial structures;
- Apply generally accepted valuation principles, methodologies, and techniques in support of IPEV, IFRS, US GAAP and Lux GAAP;
- Perform valuation analysis of financial instruments and structured products;
- Create independent financial models utilizing income or market approaches to estimate or assess the value of a business and the securities within its capital structure;
- Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations;
- Use multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations;
- Use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making;
- Develop a point of view on key global trends, and how they impact clients;
- Manage a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties;
- Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points;
- Produce outstanding deliverables for our clients;
- Develop new skills outside of your comfort zone.
Eligibility / Qualification Required:
If you...
- Hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field;
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent command of English — German and French are strong assets, and any other European language is considered valuable;
- Have 2–4 years of professional experience in Valuation and Modelling, ideally gained within the valuation or modelling advisory team of a Big Four firm, a professional services firm (e.g., Mazars, BDO, Grant Thornton), or a specialist advisory firm (e.g., BHB Partners, Stout, VRC, Houlihan Lokey, Alvarez & Marsal, Accuracy, Eight Advisory);
- May also bring a solid audit background in alternative investments and/or in-house AIFM valuation experience, provided you are proficient in English, German, and French;
- Have exposure to private capital alternative investments (e.g., private equity, infrastructure, venture capital, private debt);
- Demonstrate strong financial modelling skills in Microsoft Excel — capable of building three-way models and adhering to best practices (e.g., avoiding hard-coded figures and inefficient formulas such as VLOOKUP, INDIRECT, or nested IFs);
- Possess solid knowledge of financial statement analysis under IFRS, US GAAP, and/or Lux GAAP;
- Have experience with option pricing models (e.g., Black-Scholes, Binomial Trees, Monte Carlo) and/or Purchase Price Allocations (considered valuable);
- Can create high-quality deliverables using Microsoft PowerPoint;
- Are progressing toward a professional finance or accounting qualification (e.g., CFA, CAIA, FRM, CVA, ASA, CBV, ACCA, ACA, CPA, CA, AFM, CFM, FMVA);
- Are highly organized, flexible, and capable of managing multiple timelines;
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and maintain a healthy level of professional skepticism;
- Are proactive, eager to learn, and committed to professional growth;
- Appreciate a good sense of humor - though it’s not a strict requirement for success in this role.
