You will act as a trusted business advisor working with iconic New Zealand and overseas clients. You'll play a crucial role in helping insurers, crown enterprises, banks, and other corporate and public sector clients navigate financial uncertainties. Our team blends consulting expertise with audit support, building long-lasting client relationships and delivering impactful insights. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract opportunity, working Monday to Friday for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.

Your day-to-day could include:

  • Engage directly with clients in the private sector (primarily life insurance and financial services), tailoring solutions to meet their unique needs and fostering strong partnerships.
  • Lead and manage complex actuarial-related projects, ensuring quality outcomes and innovative strategies that drive client success.
  • Mentor and coach analysts, nurturing their professional development and helping them reach their potential within our vibrant consulting team.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of experts across fields such as maths, statistics, computer science, and economics to deliver comprehensive and forward-thinking solutions.

Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe, ka whakawhanakehia rānei i tēnei tūranga / Skills you will bring or develop in this role

  • 5+ years proven Actuarial advisory and audit support experience in a large, global Chartered Accountancy firm. Of those 3+ you will have experience in IFRS 17 implementations and audits, and understand the requirements of being engaged as an expert with respect to audit support engagements.
  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree related to mathematics, statistics or economics. A Master’s degree in these subjects is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications (particularly Excel), Python, R and Power BI are essential; knowledge of Azure DevOps and Databricks (or similar workflow management tools) would be an advantage
  • Proactive and results oriented approach
  • Experienced with technology-based solutions
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with clients and staff
  • Ability to inspire teamwork, supervise, coach and support team members including assisting with the review and evaluation of staff performance
