Key Responsibilities:

The Deputy Director (Technical) is responsible for managing and delivering enterprise IT projects encompassing infrastructure,
software development, cybersecurity, and quality assurance. The role ensures efficient project lifecycle management, adherence to best practices,
and alignment with institutional objectives, while maintaining high standards of system reliability, performance, and security.
• Plan, manage, and deliver IT projects across infrastructure, software, cybersecurity, and QA domains.
• Develop project charters, timelines, budgets, and resource plans in line with institutional priorities.
• Ensure implementation of standardized project management methodologies (PMBOK/Agile/Hybrid).
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (networks, systems, software, cybersecurity teams) for integrated project execution.
• Oversee infrastructure deployments including data centers, networks, cloud, and endpoint systems.
• Supervise software development and system integration projects ensuring adherence to SDLC best practices.
• Ensure cybersecurity considerations are embedded in all projects (security-by-design approach).
• Establish quality assurance and testing protocols to ensure system reliability and compliance.
• Monitor project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring timely mitigation and reporting.
• Manage vendor engagements, procurement processes, and contract execution for technical projects.
• Track KPIs, milestones, and project deliverables, ensuring reporting to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and audit requirements across all technical projects.
• Lead and mentor technical teams, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and innovation.
• Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the CTO in alignment with institutional objectives.

Eligibility / Qualification Required:

Qualification:Essential Qualifications
16-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related discipline from HEC recognized University/ Institute.
Preferably with exceptional certifications and demonstrated experience in a similar role.
Desirable Qualifications
· 18-year (Master’s) degree in relevant discipline.
· Certifications or training in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent).
Experience:
Essential Experience
Minimum 12 years of relevant IT experience with at least 3-5 years of proven Project Management experience in IT projects.


Desirable Experience
· Experience in managing large-scale enterprise IT infrastructure, software, or cybersecurity projects.
· Exposure to public sector or large institutional ICT environments.

General Conditions:

Candidates are required to attach scanned copies of their documents (Academics / Professional). Last education certificate/degree must be attested/verified by HEC.
Candidates may be considered ineligible for the post due to any of the following reasons:
- 3rd Div in academic career / weak academic profile.
- NUST employees with less than one year of service with NUST and / or absence of NOC from Head of Institution.
- In process of pursuing a required degree.
- Medically unfit.
- Only selected candidates will be contacted and issued offer letter.
- Candidates serving in Govt departments, Armed forces may apply through their respective parent department / organizations.
