Eligibility / Qualification Required:
Job Summary:The Manager Mechanical will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness of all mechanical systems associated with the Data Center and supporting facilities. The role will be responsible to ensure that all mechanical infrastructure is designed and delivered in accordance with Tier III requirements, project specifications, reliability objectives, energy efficiency targets, and industry best practices.
Design & Engineering Management:
- Review and manage mechanical designs for Data Center and supporting facilities.
- Coordinate with consultants on HVAC, cooling, fuel, plumbing, water treatment, and fire protection systems.
- Review design drawings, specifications, calculations, BOQs, and technical submissions.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, Uptime Tier III principles, TIA-942, ASHRAE, NFPA, and applicable codes.
Cooling Infrastructure Management
- Manage design and implementation of:
- Air-cooled chillers
- Water-cooled chillers
- CRAH/CRAC systems
- Direct-to-Chip Cooling (if applicable)
- CDU systems
- Cooling towers
- Chilled water distribution systems
- Review:
- Cooling load calculations
- Redundancy philosophy
- Energy efficiency targets
- Mechanical capacity planning
Construction & Site Management:
- Monitor mechanical construction activities.
- Ensure installation compliance with approved designs.
- Supervise contractors and vendors.
- Participate in site inspections and quality reviews.
- Resolve site-related technical issues.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Review material submittals and technical approvals.
- Ensure compliance with approved specifications and quality standards.
- Verify testing procedures and inspection records.
- Monitor mechanical QA/QC activities.
Testing, Commissioning & Integrated Systems Testing:
- Lead mechanical testing and commissioning activities.
- Review commissioning procedures and reports.
- Participate in Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Verify operational readiness before handover.
Energy Efficiency & Sustainability:
- Monitor cooling system performance and efficiency.
- Review:
- PUE targets
- AEER/IPLV values
- Water consumption
- Energy optimization opportunities
- Support sustainability and green building initiatives.
Vendor & Contractor Management:
- Manage HVAC, plumbing, fuel, and fire protection contractors.
- Review technical bids and vendor proposals.
- Support procurement and technical evaluations.
- Monitor vendor performance and contractual compliance.
Risk & Reliability Management:
- Ensure mechanical systems meet:
- Maintainability requirements
- Reliability targets
- Redundancy requirements
- Identify and mitigate operational risks.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Review:
- Shop drawings
- Method statements
- RFIs
- As-built documentation
- O&M manuals
- Prepare management reports and project updates.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Minimum 5 years in mission-critical facilities such as: Data Centers Telecom Facilities Hospitals Airports Industrial Infrastructure Experience with Tier III/Tier IV projects preferred.
