Eligibility / Qualification Required:
Batterjee Medical College is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Faculty Member in Biochemistry to join the Preparatory Year Program. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in Biochemistry while building students' foundational scientific knowledge and preparing them for success in medical and health sciences programs.
The role involves teaching, student mentoring, curriculum development, research, and active participation in quality assurance and academic initiatives in alignment with the College's educational standards and accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver undergraduate Biochemistry lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and problem-based learning activities using student-centered teaching approaches.
- Teach fundamental concepts in molecular biology, cell biology, metabolism, enzymes, proteins, nucleic acids, genetics, and clinical biochemistry.
- Integrate the clinical relevance of biochemistry into healthcare education.
- Utilize Blackboard (LMS), ExamSoft, and other educational technologies to support teaching and student engagement.
- Develop course materials, assessments, examinations, and laboratory activities aligned with program learning outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and academic documentation.
Student Support & Development
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to Preparatory Year students.
- Support students in developing critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Monitor student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
Research & Scholarly Activities
- Conduct research in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related biomedical sciences.
- Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and participate in academic conferences.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives and foster a culture of scientific inquiry.
- Support curriculum enhancement through evidence-based educational practices.
Academic Quality & Institutional Service
- Participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Prepare course reports, annual program reports, and other academic documentation.
- Contribute to curriculum review, assessment, and continuous program improvement.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and academic regulations.
Community Engagement
- Participate in scientific outreach activities, health awareness campaigns, and community engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to promote science education and public health awareness.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
- Higher qualifications (PhD) are preferred.
Experience
- Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
- Experience teaching Biochemistry to medical or health sciences students is highly desirable.
- Experience in laboratory instruction, research, and academic reporting is preferred.
- Experience with curriculum development and quality assurance is an advantage.
