Role Overview:
This is a post for a highly motivated and committed individual to undertake a key role as Consultant in Acute Medicine in Internal Medicine. The post is based at one of the Hospitals of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust. The appointee is expected to provide hospitalist services to the patients with a focus on the care of acutely ill cancer patients. The successful candidate will coordinate patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary subspecialty teams, review and assess patients presenting to the Emergency Assessment Room according to departmental rotas, conduct daily rounds in the Emergency Assessment Room, Acute Medicine Unit and inpatient wards, and provide Internal Medicine consultation services. The role also includes contributing to the development and delivery of educational programs for internal and external healthcare professionals, undertaking administrative responsibilities, representing the institution at appropriate forums and maintaining effective communication with patients, families and colleagues through telephone, videoconference and written correspondence. The Hospitalist will actively participate in and lead clinical audits, develop and contribute to research projects, support the orientation and induction of newly appointed staff, maintain ongoing professional development, work towards agreed objectives with the Medical Director and ensure full compliance with all institutional policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
Eligibility / Qualification Required:
- Education: FCPS in Internal Medicine or MRCP (UK) with CCT/CSST or equivalent or American Board Certification.
- Additional qualifications in Acute Medicine is desirable.
- Full Registration with the PMDC.
- Good teaching and presentation skills.
- Post training work experience and well-developed IT Skills.
